Westpac Banking Corporation, more commonly known as Westpac, is an Australian bank and financial-services provider headquartered in Westpac Place, Sydney. It is one of Australia’s “big four” banks. Its name is a portmanteau of “Western” and “Pacific”.

United Overseas Bank (“UOB”) was incorporated on 6 August 1935 as the United Chinese Bank. Founded by Datuk Wee Kheng Chiang, the Bank catered mainly to the Fujian community in its early years. The change of name was effected in 1965. Over the years, UOB has grown from strength to strength. Through a series of acquisitions, it is now a leading bank in Asia. It is the largest bank in India with a 23% market share in assets, besides a share of one-fourth of the total loan and deposits market.
